Building a crypto portfolio
In this series I will build a crypto portfolio and track it long term. For more info you can read my post about how to build a crypto portfolio. On 2022-09-01, I began my experiment to create an crypto index-based portfolio. Before I started, I asked myself the following questions:
How much is my DCA budget?
I feel comfortable to invest 280 $ into crypto each month.
Which crypto I will buy?
I use the indexes from quantintegral.com. I will monthly DCA 20$ into each of the coins in these indexes:
How long do I want to invest?
My investment time frame is about 3 years; or until the next big bull run.
Month 1
So, after answering these questions for myself, I looked up the cryptocurrencies in those indexes. While I had heard good things about the coins in the QI Index, the coins in the Red Index took me by surprise. DOGE and SHIB, in particular, are shitcoins that, in my perspective, are not projects based on fundamentals but rather on sheer speculation or hype. I basically sucked it up and bought the shitcoins from the Red Index. It was the first time I bought shitcoins I was always against: DOGE and SHIB; I still feel filthy after doing so. I'm hoping it improves with time.
My portfolio
Here are the coins in the QI Cryptp Tech Index:
And the coins in the Red Index:
This is my result on 2022-09-01:
- Crypto Tech Portfolio: 140$, Coins: ETH, DOT, AVAX, BNB, ADA, MATIC, MIOTA
- Red Crypto Portfolio: 140$, Coins: BTC, ETH, SHIB, XRP, DOGE, ADA, LTC
My whole crypto portfolio on 2022-09-01 is 280$. I'm curious to see how this will develop in the future.
